We are proponents of healthy lifestyles and dental implants provide you with the best alternative for a healthy mouth when teeth are missing. Dental implants are comfortable because they look and function just like normal teeth. This gives you the freedom and assurance to go about your life without worrying about a dental prosthetic accidentally becoming dislodged while speaking, laughing, or eating.
Dental implants are also better than dental bridges because no additional teeth need to be altered to place the new tooth.
If you are missing teeth and you’d like to see if you are a candidate for implants please schedule an appointment now!
The entire implant process is performed over the course of a few months. Implants are essentially artificial roots, and then we place a ceramic crown or a denture anchor on top to finish it off.
The first part of the process is to place an implant itself, where a screw is placed into the jaw bone. Multiple implants can be placed at once if necessary. After the implants are placed, the gums are sutured.
The implant must be allowed about 3-6 months to heal, and during this time the jaw bone will form around the implant in a process called osseointegration. Depending on where the implant is in your mouth you can get a temporary prosthesis so that you can eat, speak normally and maintain a proper aesthetic appearance for your smile.
After the implant has healed it is time to place an abutment and crown on the implant. Your smile will look just like it used to, and, after a short period of getting used to the implant, it will feel just like one of your own teeth.
